Coir Door Mats
Coir Mats are made in India from 100% natural, fully biodegradable Coir Fibre.
The manufacturers of our coir door mats are the first and only in the coir industry to receive state and industry awards for pollution control and environmental awareness.
What is Coir?
The Coconut growers on the coast of Southern India use every part of the coconut. Virtually nothing goes to waste.
Coir doormats are made from the husk of the coconut. The husks are first "seasoned" in the lagoons off the coast then each husk is beaten by hand to extract the fibre.
This fibre is woven into door mats on small looms in the coastal village of Kerala then stencilled with our vibrant designs. Each mat uses the husks of about 40 coconuts.
Your doormat is an eco-friendly, wholly natural product, produced using exactly the same method used for centuries.
Care for your Coir Mat
To prolong the life of your doormat's colour design, do not place in direct sunlight or where it will remain wet for any length of time.
Shedding is normal during initial month of use. During this period, simply brush or shake the mat to maintain its best appearance.
